More Creations

Now that I have gotten my beadin' back on...I have to balance between that and blogging. They both have brought so much joy into my life that I have to make time to include both of them in my regular routine.

I'm thinking about starting a entirely new blog that will showcase the new pieces that I am making. But...since I'm not totally sold on that idea yet, I'll share them with you here. After all, it has become an integral part of my well being during my Journey...

Hope you likes:

Oh and...GOOD NEWS...sending my other pieces to my friend in New York DEFINITELY paid off. She ended up selling quite a few pieces and I made over $100...in addition to generating a decent amount of interest in my work. Clearly I'm not at the point where I can "quit my day job" but it is definitely a step in the right direction, as well as a HUGE ego boost!

This concludes this portion of my "Show & Tell." LOL!

Yo Darb thank you for checking out my blog in return. Interesting article, my mother does this type of Jewerly, I remember the late 70's that type of vibe had a lot of social traction in the black community. Remember the party lights, those pictures of Naked black men and women on velvel backrounds, Remember the Peacock and Ostricth feathers. I know you have to remember that gigantic bottle of blue grease that people use to use to braid or twist kids hair. Anyway good post thanks for checking out progress. Mark

Can you send me an e-mail at chele_rene@hotmail.com so I can talk to you about getting one of these pieces. Maybe more. I'm specifically interested in the 4th one from the top done with big purple and lavender beads ...

I love your work.

@ Chele: Are you kidding? Of course I will...everyone seems to like that one...thanks for your interest!

@ Mark: You're welcome...I think it's only polite to check out someone's site when they have checked out yours. And yes...I do remember most of the things you mentioned during your walk down memory lane.

@ Michel: Thank you...and thank you for your support!

Whoa, love these. I especially love the cross with the purple and blue stones... you gonna be able to sell to us up here in Canada? If so you got a customer ready to pay up!

Whwere do these creations come from? Do you start out knowing what you want them to look like?

At 11:24 AM, Blogger Darbs said...

@ Sarccastik: Everyone needs to find some sort of work that they love...and I have found mine :o) Thanks.

@ Mocha: I don't discriminate at all! LOL.

@ Luvin': They come from my head...sometimes I'll know, for the most part, what I want it to look like...what color combinations, how many strands, how long...but most times I use a practice string to try different things until I find something I like. There are a few times that I will see something that I like and recreate it while putting my own spin on it. What I have found, though, are the ones that I'm not THAT crazy about are the ones that people end up liking the most...go figure :o)

@ Mocha: I'm going to email you.

@ TTD: Since Mocha inquired about it first, let me find out what's going on with her. I'll keep you in the loop though. If I send it to her, I'll see if I can duplicate it...or make something similiar...deal?

alright Missy I hope you're making more than one of each before you post pictures cause I'm ready to buy.

Get at me dawg :)

@ Gela: Thanks for visiting and for your kind words.

@ Mwabi: I so feel like we were sisters in a past life :) - that really has nothing to do with your comment, I just thought I would tell you. BUT...I don't make more than one...unfortunately. I've been tossing around the idea of not duplicating anything...but I haven't made a solid decision on that.

@ Everyone: If ever you are interested in a piece, have questions, or whatever (as it relates to jewelry) - feel free to email me at: jewelyn-dc@hotmail.com.

WOW!! Darbs your pieces are REALLY nice!
I think what I like most is that you are not afaid to use color. I love color and it always liven things up.
Most people don't use a lot of color and so that also makes you stand out.

*jus my humble opinion*

@ Sangin': Thanks! Gotta. Love. Color!
